The Church on a Hill

About Us

Our Faith

About the Scriptures - We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that the men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of God. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.

About God - We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost world.

About Mankind - We believe that mankind was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort alone.

About Salvation - We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs only when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

About the Christian Life - We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

About the Church - We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.

Our Purpose

Our mission is to glorify God by leading people to know, follow, serve, and share Jesus Christ.

This purpose statement, adopted by First Baptist Church, Princeton, is taken from the teachings of Jesus known as the "Great Commandment" and the "Great Commission."

The Great Commandment: "Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:36-40

The Great Commission: "Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20

All that our church seeks to be and do, is in order to glorify God! He alone is worthy of complete devotion and love. He created each of us to be loved by Him and to enjoy a personal relationship with Him! As we seek to glorify God in all things, we will:

  1. Magnify God’s presence (Worship)
  2. Serve in Jesus’ Name (Ministry)
  3. Share the Good News of Jesus (Evangelism)
  4. Fellowship as God’s family (Fellowship)
  5. Teach God’s People to Grow in Faith (Discipleship)

 Becoming a Member

There are three ways to join this church body. The prerequisites to joining by any of these ways are: (1) A statement [testimony] of a definite time of repentance of sin and trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life through His death, burial, and resurrection, and (2) a desire to be a fully devoted follower of Christ, living in a lifestyle that would not bring reproach upon Christ or His Church. These three ways are:

 Baptism (by immersion)

  • Having never been baptized following your salvation experience.
  • Joining from a church that does not baptize by immersion.
  • Joining from a church that teaches baptism washes away sins.
  • Having been immersed outside the authority of a constituted church.
